The Incident with Petrakov

And so on one occasion Petrakov wanted to lie down for a sleep but, lying down, he missed the bed. He hit the floor so hard that he just lies on the floor and can't get up.
And so Petrakov made a supreme effort and got up on all fours. But his strength deserted him and he again fell down on his stomach and just lies there.
Petrakov lay on the floor for five hours. At first he just lay there and then he fell asleep.
Sleep restored Petrakov's energy. He awoke completely refreshed, got up, walked up and down the room and lay down cautiously on the bed. 'Well - he thought - now I'll have a sleep' But he just didn't feel sleepy. Petrakov turns over on to one side and then the other, but cannot get to sleep at all.
And that's just about it.

The SPIRIT of Giving...

Goodbye Frank Miller, here's hoping your exodus from film is as enthralling as your exile from quality comics.

here is another quick entry for Barry, my quirky alien character that appeared in my sci-fi/western short a while back.

Those TWO interior spreads from Favorite Case Ever.

Eventually, this book will begin like any other, then transform into this style (after the 'sign' is run over in the beginning)

A girl in my class looked at these for the longest time, then called our boys "disgusting"... and then followed that up by calling them "D-BAGS"

"Lady, you just met THE FEARLESS MONSTER HUNTERS!"

I Can't Wait...

There is two more interior spreads that go along with this, the FIRST Fearless Monster Hunter wrap-around cover.

Oh, that St. Louis Magic...

Now has a cover, or pin-up, or what have you.

Yeah, the Ghostbuster likenesses are iffy, Aykroyd being the best, Murray being The Joker (I'll rectify that later)

Removing the type, keen observers will notice Busch Stadium in the background. Actually, the whole area is St. Louis specific, the main building being the AT&T building. That structure changed quite a bit because I wasn't trying too hard to match it, but after I decided to add the full city background, I wish I'd been a bit more attentive.

Its 3:32 in the morning...

Celebrating, but not participating in the 24 comic challenge. I used the time to catch up on some work. Qty TWO, two panel pages. The first showing the ascending / descending of a ship, plane, or whatnot. The second page showing a stagecoach being chased through a canyon. I combined the two into one story.

BONES & MUSCLES

The newest piece I've done.

I was channeling Eisner and a box of crayons.

The eventuality of your email responses the other week...

and my first gouache painting experiment.

HOY SAUSE LABELS...

aw yes, the NON-TRADITIONAL spelling of sauce.

I sum up a week in comic form...

Long Time No Sleep... or Post

Actually, I get pretty good sleep... Funny.

Anywho, have not posted in forever and I'm thinking this whole blog needs a makeover, but alas, that will be far off I suppose.

But here are some bits and pieces of late...

An illustration I finished then abandoned.

And a schoolwide project, sending images to the next president.

Sunday, May 25, 2008

Ok, Now we're cook'in!

First, we have the full shot I wanted to post yesterday.

Saturday, May 24, 2008

DAMN IT.

I was going to post a WackJob picture, to showcase how I've handled him (Drawing WackJob is all I did yesterday) but I forgot to throw it on my thumbdrive.

Anywho, in lew of that I'll just give you guys a rundown of what will be in my Chicago Con Book.

1- The Gyroscope (1pg)
2- The FMH & MCAD (3pg)
3- Dirty Lenny (2pg)
4- The Human Consciousness (6pg)
5- The Phantom (5pg)
6- WackJob in: Get Out of My Dreams (3pg)
7- The FMH: Brother Fole Preview (5pg)

Then I just fill the remaining 3 pages with the best of the Sketchbook Initiative.
I will take votes on which should go in.

Wackjob is thumbnailed and today I will start roughing it out on newsprint.

I have to give myself a pat on the back for accumulation quite a mass of work in just 9 months.

WHOO HOO!

The Sketchbook initiative!

I want to get better at single character sketches, ala pin-ups like stuff.
So I need characters to draw. If you guys would be so kind, request characters in this here posts request field. I'd like to have one a week from each of you, any genre you like. One week you want to see Captain Jack Harkness and the next maybe Grover... Anything is game.

Posted is Scott's suggestion that I screwed up... Etrigan the Demon!

Ok, this one just sucks!

I can live with this one somehow.
